Online gaming and blogs: Keep in the loop

In the past decade, blogs have been the place to go for a personal opinion on many different topics. It’s the same for online gaming. You can always find a hobbyist who is willing to share their knowledge and accurate reviews. Here’s what I found after a thorough search.

Gamespot

Gamespot is the best source for gaming news, reviews and strategy guides. Gamespot offers news about games, reviews in depth, and strategy guides. It is also worth mentioning that its online gaming website is an excellent resource, offering previews of highly-anticipated games and analyses of a wide range of titles, from Age of Empires to World of Tanks to Team Fortress 2 to League of Legends.

Casual Girl Gamer

Casual Girl Gamer is exactly what it says: “a blog that brings you the best casual games available online for free”. There are many free online games, including Planetside 2, that rival paid-for titles. This blog features round-ups and opinion pieces, such as “Ten Games That Will Make you Think About Life”, plus a hand-picked selection of games to review.

Videogamer

Videogamer.com’s team makes me laugh. The site may be crammed 8kbet with reviews, features, news and previews, but the team who appear in the videos and on the podcast never fails to make me smile. The forums are busy and the site is very easy to navigate. You would expect that they will report on the biggest events. This site really gives you the impression that it is run by gamers for gamers.

IGN

It is the “daddy” of all gaming sites. This website is available on both sides, is constantly updated and covers not only games but also comics, movies and other topics. IGN is the go-to place for exclusive interviews, previews, and reviews.

Kotaku

Kotaku, a gaming blog with no frills, offers intelligent and knowledgeable commentary on video games and the gaming world. They have a knack for getting the news first, and they’ve been the first ones to leak stories about the gaming industry. They are respected in the gaming world and their opinion should be on every gamers reading list.
